About

Hi, I’m Frederikke, the hands behind Maskebal. I’m 26 years old and I live in Aarhus. Read along to learn more about my journey and how Maskebal came to life. In 2022, I began studying Design Technology, where I was surrounded by talented classmates who spent their time crocheting and knitting during class. At the time, I was searching for a hobby or something where I could feel a sense of confidence in my own abilities. So I decided to learn how to crochet.

I started completely from scratch and am self-taught through countless YouTube videos. My first project was a hat or something close to it and shortly after, I challenged myself with a pair of beautiful lace pants I had seen on Pinterest. It took about eight months to finish them, but by then I had truly developed my skills. Today, they stand as a symbol of the dedication I put into them and a reminder that you can achieve what you set your mind to.

I quickly fell in love with the craft, and especially the feeling that comes when the stitches flow and you disappear into your own little world.

Later, I continued my studies with a Bachelor’s degree in Design & Business, specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation, which became the starting point for Maskebal. With Maskebal, my goal is to make crochet accessible to everyone, no matter their level. I create patterns that guide you safely from start to finish, taking you by the hand one stitch at a time.

What I love most about crochet is the freedom to shape what you create so it fits you perfectly. You can adjust along the way and, with the right techniques, stitches, and color combinations, create something truly unique for your wardrobe.

And honestly—how amazing is it to wear something you’ve made yourself? That’s exactly the feeling I hope Maskebal’s patterns can inspire.
